![]() If you beat the attacks the first time then this will be five quests, if however you are unsuccessful in defending you will then need to attack and take back the fortress, potentially prolonging your end-game. ![]() You will also need to attack the fortresses of other online players to rank up to 'Captain' to unlock " Such Great Heights".Īfter completing the main story, unlocking " Stalemate is Victory" you will unlock a series of quests called 'The Shadow Wars' which is a series of quests where you have to defend your fortresses from attack by Orcs. You will need 'Mirian' which is the games currency to upgrade your Orcs and fortresses as you play since you will need to attack fortresses and defend your own to complete the post-game content, 'The Shadow Wars'. While doing quests try to dominate as many Orc captains as you can whenever you encounter them to bring them into your army as you will need to assail the fortress of each region, which is what I did last after completing all available quests. You also need to unlock all of the character skills and some of them are only unlocked after completing full questlines so doing them as you encounter them can keep any sense of a grind to a minimum. The quests are separated into different categories depending on who they belong to and each set of quests has an achievement for completing them all as does the main story. ![]() They are all worth doing though since they don't take long and each has a piece of Legendary gear that you can collect and that will be very useful.Īfter doing all that I then do any quests that are available including story and side quests. There is an Ithildin door in each region that you need to collect the six Ithildin pieces to unlock, you however only need to unlock one of these doors for an achievement. I then went around the map and collected all of the aforementioned collectibles. First I went to all three Haedir in each region to unlock the fast travel to each and to use them to find all of the collectibles and memories that then are put on your map. The game is set in five regions and I approached each one in the same way to streamline the process. Also activating all of the fast travel points, the 'Haedir' will unlock the " Purge" achievement, so you need to activate them all anyway. There are collectibles but they are tied to the fast travel towers, as when you reach a fast travel tower you can activate it and then use it to find all of the Gondorian artifacts, the Shelob memories and the Ithildin shards, which all need to be collected for the " Finished Tales", " The Web Revealed" and " Speak Friend and Enter" achievements respectively. You should play the game without worrying too much about achievements as they are mostly straightforward and some of the miscellaneous ones can be done at any time while others need certain skills unlocked so you won't be able to do them right away, you also have a very high chance of unlocking some of them as you play as they largely involve actions that you will be performing as you play and build your Orc army. This includes the apparent toning down of any grinding for achievements.Ī note on the one missable achievement it is very difficult to miss but to be sure read the description for " It Came From Within" before getting too far into the game so that you are aware of what you need to do for it. Note: This guide was written after the update that removed micro-transactions that allegedly altered how the game worked. There are 2 achievements that I labelled as 'Online', though the online is actually done offline, but your actions are done against other players fortresses or against Orcs that killed other players online, so a connection to the internet is required for them. The achievements for this game are fairly straight forward and most can be done as you play the game with only a small mop-up at the end. The gameplay has been vastly improved from the previous game making fighting more challenging, but more fun and traversing the world much easier and more gratifying. Welcome back to Mordor! In Shadow of War you once again take on the mantle of the undead ranger Talion to bring Mordor to it's knees using it's own army against it. Unobtainable/glitched achievements: None Does difficulty affect achievements: No Missable achievements: " It Came From Within" Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 Approximate amount of time to 1000 : 20-25 hours ![]() Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10
